Luzon Avenue

This is an ongoing series of drawings inspired by my home, Luzon Avenue. As somebody who passes by this area daily, I have observed the quirks and the little communities that make up this little town.

Chess is inspired by the group of uncles who play chess by a tailor shop called MasterCut. There are at least two men playing, sometimes joined by cyclists who wish to take a break from a ride. You will find them there daily, rain or shine.

Ruby Salon is inspired by a middle-aged man who sits by the salon everyday. It is located at a busy intersection at Luzon Avenue. You will often find him there surrounded by stray kittens.

Overpass is inspired by a bridge overlooking the roads that connect Luzon Ave and Congressional. The posters and banners on its railings reveal the passage of timeβ€” the overcrowding campaign posters from the previous elections to the huge religious (INC lol) banners produced by the same political parties they put into office.
